Amidst the rising concern for environmental issues, the global beauty giant Chanel has taken a sustainable step towards saving the planet by reducing plastic usability in its products. Developed in collaboration with Sulapac, a bio-based cap has been introduced by Chanel for its 125 ml perfume bottles of the Les Eaux De range.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sulapac is a Finnish business that develops sustainable packaging with the use of biodegradable and patented microplastic-free material that has been derived from the FSC- certified wood chips along with natural binders. Chanel started its first investment in this company back in 2018, since then the teams have collaborated for 2 years and have come up with this environmentally friendly cap. This cap comprises three layers that encompass 91 percent of bio- based materials obtained from various sustainable resources and FSC certified wood chips. Collab with Chanel is the first beauty project taken up by Sulapac.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have set a very high-quality standard for our sustainable material, with an ambition to replace conventional plastics,\u201d said Suvi Haimi, chief executive and co-founder of Sulapac, in an interview when the announcement was made in 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chanel range of Les Eaux De was created with the idea of making the beauty industry more environmentally friendly. Given it\u2019s slimmer and lighter glass perfume bottles there is a reduced number of raw materials which not only helps in improved shipping, but also helps in faster recycling process as well. The corrugated cardboard that is typically covered with laminated or shiny coating was turned into a clear, basic exterior box that is simpler to recycle.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company CEO and co-founder of the Finnish company, Sulapac, said that this cap has been developed keeping in mind the superior standards of the brand Chanel. Every aspect was meticulously considered, along with the sensory properties of the material. Even its resilience to temperature changes, the peculiar noise that the container produces when the cap is placed on, as well as the gripping, and the thickness of the slick matte finish was carefully designed and developed.
